How much make-up should I wear?
First of all we only get one face so we need to make sure we treat it well so it will always be beautiful. Good skin care is very important. You need to wash your face at least two times a day. If you don't already use a skin care product that is okay, Dove is a wonderful product to use because it is non-drying. You also need to make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Water helps keep your skin hydrated.
After the pageant one thing you will know for sure is how to wear make-up! Every time you make an appearance you want to look your best, so as woman what do we do? Wear make-up. There are two types of ways to wear make-up. Day and Evening, let's start with day. Day make up helps you to look beautiful in the natural sun light.
Let's start at the base. Foundation: you need to be sure your foundation color is an exact match to your natural skin color. We wear foundation to even out our skin tone, not to cover up blemishes or dark circles.
We will next move on to concealer, you should wear concealer to cover the dark circles or blemishes you may have. If you use too much concealer it can cause the appearance of lines.
After foundation and concealer this is when you apply the powder to your face. You want to make sure your powder is one shade lighter than your foundation color.
Eyeliner: Black or brown works best. I would suggest a pencil for day and liquid for on stage. However if you are planning to wear false lashes only use liquid because pencil will make the lashes fall off.
For eye shadow I would suggest more natural color. For interview I would apply the eye shadow as I do everyday. For stage you should go a bit deeper. Try to stay natural; you shouldn't look like a clown!
Speaking of a clown this comes into play when applying blush. Always make sure your blush and lip color are the same. This is one way to eliminate the clown look. Remember to keep it natural for interview, and then you can add more for on stage.
Ladies I know this may be a shock but we need to have two eyebrows! NEVER try to shape your own eyebrows. I would suggest finding a good salon to shape your brows for you. You should only have to go every two weeks to keep your brows maintained in the shape you like. Your eyebrows can complete your look that is why it is supper important to have a professional shape them for you.
A few things to remember about stage make-up; feel free to use a bit more coverage, fake eyelashes are a great idea to help your eyes POP on stage, your blush should be heavier but not like a clown, your lips can go a shade or two darker and be sure to use lip liner to shape your lips. Lip line should be one shade darker than your lipstick color. If you do not have the proper amount of make-up on for stage you could look pale and washed out.
I like to go to MAC and ask them for help in matching my skin color for foundation and powder. They will also show you how to apply make-up the correct way!
